WaterSMART’s Title XVI Water Reclamation and Reuse Program Announces Funding Opportunity

$15.3 million budgeted in 2013 for program

The U.S. Department of Interior has issued a Funding Opportunity Announcement targeting water reclamation and water reuse projects in seventeen western states and Hawaii. Title XVI projects are those that reclaim and reuse municipal, industrial, domestic, agricultural wastewater, naturally-impaired groundwater and/or surface waters. Reclaimed water is subsequently used in a range of applications, including environmental restoration, fish and wildlife habitat, ground water recharge, municipal, domestic, industrial, agricultural, power generation and recreation.

TItle XVI projects can receive up to 25% of the project cost, including planning, design and construction. Approximately five to ten awardees are anticipated, with a maximum award of $4 million.
