The U.S. Department of Interior, Bureau of Reclamation has announced a grant opportunity for water districts & wastewater districts in 17 western states. Interested applicants can apply here. The initiative is part of the DOI’s WaterSMART (Sustain and Manage America’s Resources for Tomorrow) program. WaterSMART identifies water as our most precious natural resource.

The Title XVI Water Reclamation and Reuse Program focuses on identifying and investigating opportunities to reclaim and reuse wastewater and naturally impaired ground and surface water in the 17 Western States and Hawaii. It has the potential to stretch water supplies using time-tested methodologies and piloting new concepts.
Selected applicants may receive up to $150,000 in matching funds. In 2011, the program provided funding for 21 studies.
