CH2M HILL leads the industry in developing and deploying trenchless technologies to install, repair, rehabilitate and/or replace water and sewer pipelines in a manner that helps preclude business, environmental, and social disruptions. The firm has developed innovative and cost-effective approaches for buried infrastructure assessment and trenchless installation including tunnel design and construction for water and wastewater conveyance for projects such as delivery of the Strategic Tunnel Enhancement Program (STEP) in Abu Dhabi. STEP features extensive trenchless work with a 41-km-long, large-diameter deep tunnel gravity sewer and more than 50 km of smaller diameter link sewers.
“Trenchless technologies continue to improve and provide excellent options for clients who are looking to repair or replace aging underground infrastructure or install new buried infrastructure,” said Rick Nelson, CH2M HILL Water market conveyance service team leader. “Our experts have worked on complex projects around the world to manage and extend the useful service life of existing infrastructure, as well as build new drinking water and wastewater systems without disrupting the surrounding communities. It is an honor to have our work and expertise recognized by Trenchless Technology again this year.”
CH2M HILL’s expertise in trenchless technologies and tunneling was also recently recognized by the International Tunnelling and Underground Space Association, which named CH2M HILL Global Tunnelling Design Firm of the Year, at the NCE International Tunnelling Awards in London.
“CH2M HILL recently aligned its tunneling, trenchless, and geotechnical experts within a dedicated global practice to capitalize on our collective experience serving both traditional clients, as well as design-build contractors and funding agencies,” said Andrew Finney, CH2M HILL’s western team lead for tunneling within North America. “Our unparalleled technical resources allow us to solve the most difficult infrastructure challenges faced by our clients,” continued Finney.
